Alright, it’s official: I AM ALIVE AND WELL.
Richard called me and said that he just didn’t get a chance to get into the office on Friday, so he just wanted to make sure my project was there - NOT that it was inexplicably missing.
That being said… my quarter is shaping up to be all As (possibly one B, depending on how he grades that project… I’m right on the border of A and B in that class though).
I’ll be getting back into the swing of things Tumblr-wise soon, though. I’ve missed you guys! <3
Got home this morning. Everything was going well until I checked my SCAD email:

Um. Yes. Yes I did. And if it’s not there… I don’t even want to think about it.
Could everyone just say a couple (thousand) quick prayers for me real quick? Because I’m about to throw up.
kindacarsick: I have a really strong urge to approach my finals with this sort of attitude.

4am sleep deprivation coping rant.
I have figured out the problem with colleges. It’s so incredibly stupid that every class puts so much weight on final projects! Think about it: you have a full course load, and then at the very end of the quarter, when you’re already exhausted beyond belief, ALL of your classes tell you at the exact same time that you have one last project to do for each of them. But instead of being worth around 10% like every other project you’ve had so far, this last project, for WHATEVER REASON, is going to be worth a quarter of your grade! So while you’re mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted, probably sleep deprived and starving, you need to be able to balance at least three gigantic projects over the course of maybe two weeks - two weeks if you’re lucky - and make them as good or better than every other project so far. Does this make sense to ANYONE?

I have a had a fantastic night. Becks’s friend Matt came over and made lamb and vegetarian crepes and scallop hors d’oeuvres and they were PHENOMENAL. And Megan baked me a cake, and Sarah and Abigail came over, and everyone sang happy birthday, and Megan and Becks had gotten together and bought me Sigur Rós’s “Með Suð í Eyrum við Spilum Endalaust”.
So I’ve decided that a single class does not define me, and that spending time with people I love and care about is what matters most. I will be awake all night working on this project… but if it doesn’t get done, then it just doesn’t get done. I tried. I tried hard. And I’m okay and I accept the outcome. Even if I get the first C (in a class) of my life, I will live.
This may be the wine talking. But you know, sometimes the wine is right.
Also, someone today told me that I had a “Zooey Deschanel vibe,” apropos to nothing, so there’s that.

Your design methodology is clear and you provide not only inspirational images but put those images in context to your drawings. Try to pursue additional drawings for each concept to ensure you really work through all possible solutions. The working/process shots and your presentation also enhanced your ideation packet. The brooch is well crafted and your attention to detail is evident in the formal qualities of the work.
THAT MEANS AN A IN THE CLAAAAAAAAAAAASS!
Spent 12 hours in the studio today (1 to 1). Tonight I’m going out to the island to watch the meteor shower with some friends. I feel a little guilty about it because I keep freaking out about this drawing project, but I also don’t feel that guilty because if I keep working in this state, I’ll just screw everything up. (I have had a lot of coffee.)
I will be awake all night. I have eaten today. (It was the first time in possibly three days. I forgot.)
I think my brain is fried.
(Also, I have that song Human stuck in my head, but instead of the regular hook, I have “Are we jeweler, or are we craftsman?”)
i need school to be overrrrrrrrr. i’ll return to tumblr when i actually have time for anything.

HELLO this is what we’re supposed to be learning in this ridiculous exhibition design class. Instead, we are designing park benches and not even having class half the time. (Today was the seventh time he’s canceled class. SEVEN. With NO makeup dates. Tuition breaks down to about $138 per class session… that means he has thrown nearly $1000 - ONE THOUSAND - of my dollars out the window. Not to mention the fact that we’ve never met for an entire class period… we always get out at least an hour early if not more. The school policy is that if a student misses four classes, including being 15 minutes late to a class, they automatically fail the course. What happens when it’s not the student, but the professor??)

OMG dorm roommates are the WORST. The only good roommate experience I’ve ever had was when I moved out of the dorms and into a house with two of my friends, which is where I am now. You go to that meeting and LAY IT DOWN!
